Welcome everyone!
We’re excited to start Cosmik Lab Notes (thanks Leaflet for the inspiration!), where we’ll be working in the open and sharing thoughts as we build Semble and the wider Cosmik Network.
⛳ Where we are: Semble Alpha!
Semble is in open alpha now and we’d love for you to try it out! -> semble.so
Semble is modeled after social knowledge tools like Are.na and Sublime. Right now you can collect links, organize them into collections, and see what others on the network are doing. Check out our other inspirations in this Semble collection:
To get started with Semble:
Login with your Bluesky account
Add a new card either from scratch (button on bottom left) or by clicking on the “+” symbol on someone else’s card. Currently, cards are simply links with an optional note attached to them
You can also optionally create new collections and add cards to them
Add our bookmarklet to your browser to quickly open any webpage in Semble
Check out this guide for mobile setup
Semble page
Clicking on a card will take you to the Semble page: a page aggregating all of the activity around the link in that card, such as collections it's featured in, and comments about the link. So each link shared on the network will have a corresponding Semble page, which you can also find at https://semble.so/url?id=/<link-url>[1]. So for example, https://semble.so/url?id=https://cosmik.network will aggregate the activity around https://cosmik.network/. In the future we plan for the Semble page to aggregate activity from other ATProto apps and beyond.
🗺️ Where we’re headed
We're at early stages but we’re already learning a lot from our alpha community. We have a lot of directions we're eager to explore, including:
Bluesky social graph integration to personalize your Explore feed
Collaborative collections
Bluesky, Leaflet and other atproto app integrations. Read more about our thinking around this here.
API and developer tools for custom integrations, for example importing data from other bookmarking apps.
Getting a broader set of link metadata (such as bibliographic citation data, DOIs, and so on)
Research-specific "emojis” for higher signal curation
Inline highlights and annotations
Semantic search to surface similar links curated by the network
… And more to come in future posts! Check out our public roadmap here.
Finally, we’re excited to evolve Semble with you all, so please share thoughts in the comments, leave an issue on Github or Tangled, or reach out!
